Description
Game flavor: "Manufactured in 76, before the ill-fated launch of 77. Popular for less than a year before consigned to their fate of only ever being worn ironically."
Free pants draped on a guardrail in The Backways. The stat bundle is real: [Entanglement](/wiki/skills/entanglement) +1, [Records](/wiki/skills/records) +1, [Cold Read](/wiki/skills/cold-read) -1.
Net +1 across three Intellect-cluster skills. And critically, **+1 Entanglement zeroes out the Pinstripe Trousers' -1**. If you're stuck in [Pinstripe Trousers](/wiki/items/pinstripe-trousers) and don't want to spend on Carmuna, this is the upgrade.
The Cold Read -1 is the cost. If your build leans on Cold Read for reading lies and inner states, these pants are a setback. Otherwise this is the highest-EV free pants pickup the launch wiki documents.
The in-fiction reading: the '77 launch was "ill-fated". Cadmium mines on the moon get a casual mention in the [World](/wiki/locations/world) entry — the implication is that lunar exploitation came online before the failed '77 launch, possibly *because* of it. Wearing the bottoms is wearing a piece of failed-aspiration cultural detritus, which the flavor text agrees with — they're worn ironically now.
