Description

The showpiece cup of the six-cup Sixty-Six Wolves set. The Tyrant Wolf is one of the 59 wolves the Sword-Wielding Child can name from memory. Going by the name, the Tyrant is the wolf that takes — dominating, claiming, overwhelming.

The show's merchandising clearly treats it as a flagship character. This is the only cup in the set whose merchandise extends past the cup itself: the Tyrant's signature weapon, the Flaming Claymore, has its own action-figure release ([Tyrant Wolf's Flaming Claymore](/wiki/items/tyrant-wolfs-flaming-claymore)) carried as a toy by the Sword-Wielding Child himself.

Mechanically: a task item. Narratively: the cup tied to the Sword-Wielding Child's whole character. He wields the Flaming Claymore because the Tyrant Wolf is his favourite — the dominating wolf, the headliner.

There's a small joke here. Of all the wolves a kid in a colonised-by-debt city like Portofiro could pick as a favourite, the Tyrant is a striking choice. Sixty-Six Wolves has placid wolves, gentle wolves, grieving wolves, eager wolves — sixty-six different temperaments to identify with. The kid picks the one with the sword and the fire. The cup holds the question of why.
