Blueprints

Blueprints is the Relation-faculty skill for understanding the city as a designed object. Who built it, who lives where, what each block is for, why a corner gets used for one thing and not another. Quisach is the entire playable district of Portofiro in Zero Parades, and Blueprints is the skill that lets you read it. It's also the skill the Conditioning Thought Primitive Accumulation buffs +1 — so a broke CASCADE who's been pushed onto Primitive Accumulation is a CASCADE who is suddenly very good at reading the street she's been forced to live on.

Strengths

  • +Anchors any 'city-literate' build. Quisach is a dense district and Blueprints unlocks how it actually works.
  • +Buffed +1 by Primitive Accumulation, which also buffs Personalism and opens the 'raid more trash' utility.
  • +Useful even on a Kinetic build for routing — knowing which alley exits where is a body decision before it's a thinking one.

Costs

  • Burns Anxiety (yellow), the Relation-faculty stress resource. Push it too far and a Relation skill drops a level.
  • Doesn't help you talk to people directly. Pair with Cold Read or Personalism if you want Blueprints' situational read to translate into conversation.

Your understanding of the city and how people use it. Decipher the surroundings to your advantage.

Blueprints is one of the five Relation-faculty skills, alongside Cold Read, Nerve, Personalism, and Statehood. It's the urban-literacy end of the social faculty — where Cold Read reads a person, Blueprints reads the street.

It's the architect's voice in CASCADE's head. Not loud, just always running the spatial commentary. *This alley dead-ends. This door is newer than the wall around it. These windows used to be a different shape.* The kind of read you want when you're trying to work out how a place actually functions.

For the player, Blueprints lights up wherever the scene leans on knowing where you are and what the place is for — finding the back way out before someone walks in the front, working out which carabinero post is staffed at 3am, reading the Bootleg Bazaar's layout, spotting Phantom Line infrastructure without being told what it is.

For a 14-year veteran who knew Portofiro before the '91 burn, Blueprints is also the part of CASCADE that remembers the city personally. She knew this district once. Some of the corners are different now. Blueprints notices both.

Mechanics

Blueprints checks resolve readings of the built environment — urban layout, infrastructure, who-uses-what-where, routing, the social meaning of a street. Burns Anxiety (yellow), the Relation-faculty stress resource. Buffed +1 by Primitive Accumulation Conditioning Thought. If the Relation stress meter caps at 20, a Relation skill permanently drops a level. Preset starts: Kinetic 2, Charismatic 4, Analytical 3.

Builds & playstyles

**Kinetic preset (Relation 2):** acceptable floor but you'll miss city content. Kinetic CASCADE reads the body in the room, not the room.

**Charismatic preset (Relation 4):** strong fit — the social operant who actually engages with the city's architecture.

**Analytical preset (Relation 3):** fine. Pair with Records and Grey Matter for the historical read; Blueprints handles the present tense.

**Primitive Accumulation arc:** the broke-CASCADE build. Conditioning buffs Blueprints +1 and Personalism +1, plus lets you steal trash from vending machines. Violation: working side-jobs suspends the buffs and applies a Relation Disadvantage.
