Primitive Accumulation is one of four documented Conditioning Thoughts, alongside Single-Write Only, Ghost Recorder, and The Quest For It. Reinforce it with Skill Points to activate the effects; suppress it to switch them off without losing the slot.
The term is borrowed from political economy — *primitive accumulation* is the original sin of capitalism, the violent enclosure of common land that made wage labour the only option. In CASCADE's case, the Thought activates when she's broke. Recalled with no live operation and no Bureau logistics chain, she's not just officially unauthorised — she's also out of pocket. That experience changes how she reads the city.
The two skill +1s are *potential* boosts — they raise the ceiling, not just the floor. A 3-Blueprints CASCADE on Primitive Accumulation rolls as if it were 4.
The violation hook is the bit. Primitive Accumulation is the Thought of being broke as a virtue. Take a side-job for money — even legitimately, even necessarily — and you've violated it. The buffs switch off, the Relation faculty gets penalised. The game forces CASCADE to choose between her empathy-from-below kit and her ability to make rent.
Builds & playstyles
**Strongest fit:** Charismatic builds running Cold Read and Personalism high. Turns CASCADE into someone who reads Quisach the way Carmuna Pessoa or Loud João would.
**Decent fit:** Analytical builds leaning into 'CASCADE understands this place better than the Bureau does.'
