King of Trade
The King of Trade is a monkey who runs a barter shop. Specifically: an escaped exotic-pet-trade monkey who has set up residence on the second floor of the abandoned exotic pet shop in the Bootleg Bazaar and now exchanges items with anyone who shows up holding something he wants. Including Hershel.
The task is finding him, working out what he values, and getting useful gear out of him.
How the trade works
The King of Trade — also referred to in the wiki under the name Fangèd Beast — is not a generic vendor. He doesn’t take sol. He takes objects he finds interesting, and what’s interesting to him is the puzzle.
Practical reading:
- The shop is the abandoned exotic pet shop in the Bazaar. First floor empty. Second floor is his.
- He has specific items on him. The wiki doesn’t enumerate them at launch, but several of the loose collectibles around Quisach are plausibly his stock — small high-value things he’s gathered.
- You have to offer something worthwhile. That means reading what kind of trader he is. Bright shiny things? Edible things? Things that make noise? The puzzle is the offer.
Why bother
Three reasons:
- He’s a vendor with rare stock. In a district where most useful items pass through Petre or the regular Bazaar stalls, a barter trader on the second floor of a forgotten shop is the obvious place to find something nobody else has.
- He’s a great walkthrough excuse. Trading with the monkey is the kind of task that gets you up onto a hidden second floor, which often means new map vantage, which can be its own reward.
- He’s a Zero Parades flavour set-piece. A monkey running a barter shop in a burnt-out silk factory is the game telling you it’s playing for that register. Don’t take it for granted.

- Personalism for the relationship beat.
- Instincts if approach matters — you are climbing into a hidden room with an animal that has decided he runs the place.
What’s confirmed vs. unknown
Confirmed: the King of Trade is an escaped monkey, lives on the second floor of the abandoned exotic pet shop in Quisach, will exchange items for worthwhile offers.
Unknown at launch: the exact inventory he holds, what specific objects he values most, and whether his trades plug into any of the main investigations. The task is mapped as a self-contained Bazaar curiosity, but the Loose Ends pattern in this game says assume connections until disproven.
