What's Wrong, PSEUDOPOD?

What’s Wrong, PSEUDOPOD? is the load-bearing investigation of the game. Your partner is unconscious in the safehouse. You’re trying to find out what put him down. The short answer the game keeps gesturing at: a red audio disc labelled “Ultra Violeta — You But From A Dream”, silent on playback, that erased itself afterwards.

This is the task that runs underneath every other thing you do in Quisach.

TL;DR

  • Your double PSEUDOPOD is catatonic on the safehouse cot at Foto 24.
  • He listened to a red disc the night before you arrived. The disc made no sound. The disc erased itself.
  • Your job: get a second opinion on him, work out what the disc is, find out who handed it to him.
  • The disc isn’t from The Boatman. Source is one of the open questions.

This is paired with Assign the Unassigned Assignment, which is the “what was PSEUDOPOD even supposed to be doing here” half of the same problem.

Acquisition[]

When speaking to Constanz, the Photo Lady for the first time, she will ask about PSEUDOPOD’s whereabouts, which will add this task.

Objective[]

Something happened to your partner before you arrived. How did he get like this? Can you wake him?

Subtasks[]

  • Get a second opinion on PSEUDOPOD’s condition. Constanz recommended Dr. Hugo, on a houseboat west of the bazaar.

  • Learn more about the Red Disc. Your double was listening to a red disc marked ‘Ultra Violeta - You But From A Dream’ in the music player at Foto 24.

  • There was no sound on the disc, but listening to it felt strange.

  • The red disc’s artist is a popstar named Ultra Violeta.

  • Boatman did not give the disc to PSEUDOPOD.

How to actually work this task

A practical playthrough order:

  1. Talk to Constanz at Foto 24. This is the task trigger and also gets you the Dr. Hugo lead.
  2. See Dr. Hugo. The houseboat clinic in The Backways is the only working medical opinion available in Quisach. The “second opinion on PSEUDOPOD’s condition” subtask routes through him.
  3. Examine the music player. The red disc itself (“Ultra Violeta — You But From A Dream”) is your physical lead. The label points at Ultra Violeta — the trending L-Pop star from La Luz. L-Pop is officially sanctioned and rumoured to “infiltrate a person’s subconscious”. That rumour is now extremely interesting.
  4. Talk to the Boatman in the Old Docks. Confirms he didn’t supply the disc. Useful negative information — somebody else did.
  5. Work the Bazaar. Carmuna Pessoa had PSEUDOPOD’s last working interaction. Petre sells rare media; if any vendor in Quisach knows what a strange red disc is, it’s Petre.

What “silent but felt strange” means

The disc plays no audio. PSEUDOPOD listened to it anyway and went catatonic.

Three plausible reads, none yet confirmed:

  • L-Pop subconscious work. The official rumour about Ultra Violeta’s genre. Either the silent track contains something below threshold, or the disc is doing something other than sound playback.
  • Targeted hit. Someone designed the disc specifically to take out the operant who would play it.
  • KINDRED territory. Dream-visualization work. Karolina Hayato’s old specialty is the only Crew skill that maps onto altered-consciousness gear.

The game gives you the evidence and lets you triangulate. Build matters — Sensors reads strange physical signal, Cold Read reads who flinches when you bring it up, Records and Technoflex help with the disc as object.

Why it matters for the rest of the game

Solving What’s Wrong, PSEUDOPOD? is the through-line. Every other task in Quisach feeds into it:

The Opera officially cancelled the assignment. This task is what you do instead.
